Most releases add things. This one hands you the dial.
MagicTask has been making small decisions on your behalf for a while now. Update 008 stops guessing and asks you instead by giving you the option to choose your preferences. Project Templates mean you never build the same project twice. Keyboard Shortcuts mean you can run the whole app without reaching for your mouse. And everything loads a lot lighter than it did.
Here’s everything that landed.
User Preferences is live
Open it from the sidebar and get your settings hub.
Interface sets the shape of the app. Zoom Level comes in Default, Comfortable and Compact, plus Custom are the options to choose from to adjust them. Sidebar Spacing and Task View Spacing each offer Standard, Condensed and Expanded options.
Animations and sound is the one people will play around the most with. Four settings:
- Full: everything on. All animations, chest openings, cinematic boss fights, and a lot more.
- Balanced: Motion and sound on the moments that matter. Completions and rewards celebrate; typing stays quiet.
- Subtle: Counters update quietly. No animation, no sound, cinematics auto-skipped.
- Off: Plain and silent.Tasks update instantly with no motion or audio.
The productivity panel has a toggle that hides the add tag and subtask buttons if you like clean rows.
Every panel has its own Reset, and it only touches that panel. Changes save the second you make them, so your setup is waiting for you next time you log in, whatever device you’re on.
Project Templates: build it once, reuse it forever
Create a template, define the sections, tasks and members you want inside it, and spin up a project from it whenever you need one. No dates required.
That’s it. That’s the feature. You just stop rebuilding the same thing again and again.
Keyboard Shortcuts: put the mouse down
Press Ctrl + / anywhere and the full shortcuts map opens up.
Go try them out. If there’s a shortcut you keep reaching for that isn’t in there, tell us, and we’ll look at adding it in the next build.
Other small fixes
A lot of small things got sorted in this build. Copy and paste works across many more areas, tasks move around with more fluidity, and mention and comment notifications get an upgrade.
Everything got lighter too. Images and 3D files are optimised, so the interface loads smoother than it did. And many more fixes beyond those.
What’s next
Mind of 9 and Elemental Realm are next. The mobile experience is coming soon.
Three more features are coming. Time Blocking to hold your hours so you can actually get into focus mode. Analytics to see what’s on track and what’s stuck. And Recurring Tasks, so you set a repeating task up once instead of creating it again every time.
